Worldroad privacy notice
Last updated August 21, 2026
This notice explains the information Worldroad uses to operate the public atlas, process claims, prevent abuse, and answer support requests.
Information you provide
A claim includes a company or project name, website, optional map message, logo, color choice, country, and the email collected by Stripe at checkout. Public placement fields and ownership history are visible to anyone. The buyer email is kept private and used for receipts, support, fraud review, and payment reconciliation.
Payments
Stripe processes payment details. Worldroad receives transaction identifiers, payment status, amount, and billing contact information needed to fulfill and reconcile the claim. Worldroad does not receive or store the complete card number.
Visits and map activity
The site creates a random browser identifier to estimate people online and unique visits over 24 hours. It is stored in local browser storage, then irreversibly hashed on the server. Worldroad records aggregate outbound country clicks and standard security logs such as time, request path, network address, and browser information. No advertising tracker is installed.
Why the information is used
Information is used to perform the purchase contract, publish placements, maintain ownership history, refund payments that do not acquire a country, secure the service, investigate content reports, prevent fraud, comply with law, and improve reliability. Where consent is required for an optional use, Worldroad will request it separately.
Retention
Public ownership history is retained as part of the atlas record. Payment and support records are retained for accounting, fraud, and legal requirements. Unpaid claim files and short-lived security data are deleted on an operational schedule when no longer needed. A removed logo can remain in backups until the backup cycle completes.
Sharing
Information is shared with Stripe and infrastructure providers only as needed to operate Worldroad, and with authorities or rights holders when legally required. Worldroad does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your choices and rights
You can clear local browser storage to reset the visit identifier. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection for personal information that is not required for a transaction record or legal obligation. Email privacy@worldroad.lol and include enough information to verify the request.
International use and security
Worldroad can be viewed worldwide and service providers may process information in other countries. Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, including validated uploads, restricted payment secrets, encrypted transport, and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
